Lorraine taken off air for the whole of next week

A big shake-up has been announced today

| Updated:

The ITV schedule is set for a huge shake up next week as Lorraine will be cancelled all of next week and replaced by early morning talk show Good Morning Britain.

The show’s regular host Lorraine Kelly is currently enjoying a summer break and the show has been hosted by Loose Women’s Christine Lampard.

During Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain stand-in host Jeremy Kyle announced the news.

Jeremy, 52, is in his second week hosting the show with co-star Kate Garraway while Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid take some time off over summer.

He will also be returning to the hot seat next week for his final week of presenting.

Jezza announced today that the show will be extended for an extra hour next week to replace Lorraine’s usual 8:25am – 9:25am slot.

He told viewers: “Big news, another breaking news story [I’m] back next week, Monday and I’ve news for your Garraway, we’re not only on from 6am to 8.25am.

“GMB is taking over from Lorraine so we’re actually on from 6am until 9.25 after which you’ll get The Jeremy Kyle Show.”

Jeremy started his stint on the show on August 7 and viewers haven’t warmed to him much.

Some are even begging for Piers to come back!

The outspoken presenter had previously hosted the show briefly earlier in the year over Easter.

As he made a return to the show last week he divided viewers after being too “loud and annoying” for 6am.

Getting stuck into presenting duties a confident Jeremy opened the show saying: “So good morning it’s just gone 6 o’clock, I’m back!

“14 months and we’re back.”

But viewers weren’t impressed with Piers’ replacement. One wrote on Twitter: “#gmb please get rid of Kyle. Or it’ll be death of @GMB.”

“Come back Piers Morgan! All is forgiven! (Okay, most of it). #GoodMorningBritain #GMB,” one wrote.

But fans will get a break from Jezza tomorrow as Richard Madeley will take his spot.

Jeremy told Kate on today’s show: “I’ve loved it, I’m going to miss you and listen Richard Madeley’s here tomorrow so you behave yourself as I’ll be watching.”

And Richard has vowed to show he’s got what it takes to make the show entertaining.

The 61-year-old presenter has promised to show controversial Piers “how it’s done” when he takes over.

In a teaser clip for his first appearance on the show, which will be Thursday 17 August, Richard said: “I’ve done my fair share of telly but having the chance to step into Piers Morgan’s shoes is an opportunity I just couldn’t refuse.

“Join me for my first ever guest presenting on Good Morning Britain bring you all the latest news to start the day.”

Speaking about landing the role Richard previously revealed: “I’ve known Piers for 30 years so sitting in for him on GMB is an excellent opportunity to gather some inside information on him which I will unhesitatingly use to wind him up afterwards.

“Seriously though, I’m looking forward to it immensely and after all those years on This Morning the early starts will seem like old times.”
