Every year on Love Island there is always a catchphrase made up by the islanders which goes viral on the internet.
“My type of paper,” “putting my eggs in one basket” and “I’m loyal babes” are just some of the infamous sayings that have come out of previous series of the reality show.
And it seems this year is no different as Newquay surfer Lucie Donlan, 21, has created the first catchphrase of the series: “Bev” or “bevy”.

Lucie explained that a “bev” is a word to describe something attractive.
She said in her entrance VT: “In the villa, you’re probably going to hear some new and weird words.
“A bev is a hot guy, if he’s your boyfriend he’s your bev, but if he’s not your boyfriend he’s a bev.”
She later told her female islanders in the villa that a sexy outfit was called “bevy”.
But viewers weren’t having any of it and already seem to be fed up with the catchphrase.
One person said: “Can we please not let ‘bevy’ or ‘bev’ be on a t-shirt in Primark. #loveisland.”
Another wrote: “Oh my god Lucie stop trying to make bev/bevvy happen, its not going to happen. #LoveIsland.”
A third tweeted: “I refuse to accept that “bev” or “bevvy” refers to anything except an alcoholic beverage sorry.”

WHY IS SHE TRYING TO MAKE BEV HAPPEN, A BEV IS A ALCOHOLIC DRINK NOT A BOY #LoveIsland

The way Lucie is using the word ‘bev’ is annoying. Hun bev means a drink you can’t start changing this! I will never compare a boy to a bev as nothing competes with alcohol 🙃 #LoveIsland

During last night’s launch, Lucie appeared to be a favourite among the boys in the villa.
She coupled up with catering company owner Joe Garratt after admitting her type is a guy with blonde hair and “surfer-looking”.
However, other guys took a liking to her including gym owner Anton Danyluk, 24.
Anton coupled up with air hostess Amy Hart, but soon realised he fancied Lucie.

He told her: “My initial attraction was towards you. A million percent. I wanted to see if you’re attracted to me.”
Lucie later told Amy about her conversation with Anton, saying: “That was a bit weird. He was like, ‘oh yeah I quite fancy you a little bit.’ But obviously I don’t fancy him.”
