Love Island is known for coining new phrases but one was used so much in the first episode of the show that viewers have already had enough!
Two of the lads kept repeating the same sentence during the Love Island launch last night and it soon got on fans’ nerves.
It began when nobody stepped forward for Islander Sherif Lanre during the coupling ceremony. When Caroline Flack asked him how he felt he said: “It is what it is” – three times.
From then on, it seemed the phrase was inescapable in the villa!
Michael Griffiths, who chose to pair up with Lucie Donlan, was then pied when she stepped forward for Joe Garratt and they recoupled.
Michael also said: “It is what it is,” and made his way to the ‘subs bench’ (aka the sun loungers).

When Sherif was then ditched by Amber for Callum MacLeid, sure enough, he repeated: “It is what it is.”
The boys then continued to use the phrase as they entered the villa and chatted amongst themselves and viewers were rather irked!
“If Sherif says ‘it is what it is’ one more time I’m switching off my TV,” ranted one fan.
Another complained: “Swear if Sherif says ‘it is what it is’ one more time I’m gonna flykick my TV.”

Meanwhile, Lucie has been introducing her fellow Islanders to her Cornish catchphrase: “Bev”. Meaning a “sexy” person.
Love Islander phrases that have caught on in the past include: “My type on paper” and “I’m loyal, babe.”
But this year’s Islanders don’t seem to be having as much success so far!
