Manchester bombing victim Olivia Campbell’s mum getting married to mark daughter’s 16th birthday

The family is trying to stay positive

Six months ago today, the UK suffered one of its most horrifying terrorist attacks ever.

Fanatics targeted a concert by pop singer Ariana Grande, who was performing at the Manchester arena, killing 22 victims.

One of them was 15-year-old Olivia Campbell, a student at nearby Tottington High School.

Her parents were absolutely devastated by the loss, with her mother Charlotte describing her as a “precious, gorgeous girl.”

But now, six months later, there is a sliver of happiness in the bereaved family’s lives.

Charlotte Campbell is set to marry her fiancé Paul Hodgson this weekend – just days before what would have been Olivia’s 16th birthday.

The couple were on Good Morning Britain today to talk about their experiences over the last six months, and their upcoming nuptials.

Charlotte said in a pre-recorded interview: “Everything we’ve done is to her plan. All the bridesmaids are in blue, my niece is actually wearing Olivia’s prom dress. She’ll be there with us on our day.”

Later on, the couple appeared in the studio with Piers and Susanna, and talked about how they’ve been coping over the last six months.

Charlotte said: “Every day is a different day. We get through with a lot of joy, with memories of Olivia and keep going. We have to.”

And when Susanna mentioned how close the wedding was scheduled to what would have been Olivia’s 16th, the heartbroken mother had a sweet response.

She said: “We chose this day because it is the nearest Saturday to her 16th birthday, so it’s going to be a party for her as well.”

And her husband-to-be Paul also revealed some more details of the wedding day, saying: “We’re going to have [a recording of] John Legend’s ‘All of Me’ actually sung by Olivia.

“It will be highly emotional but we can’t think of a better way, she would have sung it for us anyway.”

“We find the strength day by day, you have good days and you have bad days. But you’ve got to carry on, we’ve got to get up every morning, and carry on doing our normal things.

“Olivia will always be with us. That’s why the wedding’s been planned, it’s keeping us going.”
