What is Martin Compston in next?

The actor, 37, will soon appear in Vigil on BBC One.

Vigil is an upcoming thriller series from the makers of Line of Duty, Bodyguard and The Pembrokeshire Murders.

It stars Suranne Jones in the leading role as DCI Amy Silva.

The six-part drama revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on-board a Trident nuclear submarine.

The crime brings the police into conflict with the Navy and British security services.

Vigil also stars Rose Leslie, Shaun Evans and Paterson Joseph.

The Rig on Amazon Prime Video

Later this year, Martin will also star in The Rig, which will air on Amazon Prime Video.

The UK Amazon Original series is described as a six-part epic thriller and follows the crew aboard the Kinloch Bravo oil rig stationed off the Scottish coast in the dangerous waters of the North Sea.

Just before they are due to leave, the rig is hit by a mysterious fog followed by massive tremors, and they find themselves cut off from all communication…

Martin Compston plays Communications Officer Fulmer Hamilton.

Iain Glen, Owen Teale, Mark Bonnar and Rochenda Sandall also star.

Martin will also appear in the second series of Traces on Alibi.

Martin Compston Vigil: When does it start?

BBC One recently released the trailer of Vigil (see below), which shows the police investigating a conspiracy that goes to the very heart of Britain’s national security.

The BBC One has confirmed that the drama will air later this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

It can’t come soon enough for us!

Will Martin be back in Line of Duty?

Creator Jed Mercurio has not confirmed a seventh series of Line of Duty.

In May, the BBC hinted it would be happy to make more episodes if creator Jed Mercurio wished to do so.

About the possibility of a new series, he told Radio Times in March: “We’re in a situation where it’s not entirely clear that there will be a seventh series.”

Actor Adrian Dunbar has also hinted that the show might be back one day.

Talking on the red carpet of the BAFTAs about H and his role as Hastings, Adrian said: “I mean there may be a way to go with all of that, we don’t know yet, do we?”

Eeek! Please come back Hastings!

Is Traces coming back?

Martin Compston portrayed Daniel MacAfee in the hit crime drama Traces earlier this year.

Traces was originally shown in 2019 on Alibi which owns the rights to Traces.

Alibi confirmed they have renewed the drama for a second series.

Set in Scotland and exploring the world of SIFA – the Scottish Institute of Forensic Science – series one introduced Emma Hedges, Prof. Sarah Gordon and Prof. Kathy Torrance.

Together they used forensic science to uncover the truth about the murder of Emma’s mother.

Series two will continue to delve into the world of forensic science.

The women of SIFA carefully analyse traces of evidence to help get to the bottom of who’s behind a series of cruel bombings in Dundee.

The city is on edge as the pressure rises to identify the mystery bomber before the next bomb goes off.

Martin Compston will be returning in the drama, opposite Molly Windsor and Laura Fraser.
