Meghan Trainor confirmed as new The Voice coach

She will be replacing Jennifer Hudson

American songstress Meghan Trainor is replacing Jennifer Hudson as a coach on The Voice UK.

The 25-year-old, who rose to fame with the megahit All About That Bass in 2014, will be replacing Oscar winner Jennifer after two years on the show.

Jennifer Hudson is believed to have quit the show to star in the upcoming Aretha Franklin autobiography, Respect.

This won’t be Meghan’s first time at the rodeo however, as she has already served as a judge on a US singing talent show, The Four.

In a press release Meghan said of joining The Voice UK: “It’s a dream come true.

“I can’t wait to sit in the chair with my own button and listen to some incredible new talent.”

Host Emma Willis said: “I absolutely adore Jennifer and will massively miss her.

“However, Meghan is a fab choice to add to the coaching line-up.”

Meghan will be joining returning judges Sir Tom Jones, Olly Murs and Will.I.Am.

She also made the big announcement on her social media channels.

On Instagram she captioned her official TheVoiceUK headshot with: “SURPRISE!!!!! 🙌🏼🎉🥳 I’m joining @realsirtomjones @iamwill @ollymurs on this season of @thevoiceuk!! I can’t wait! 😭😍”

Make-up artist and YouTube star Patrick Starrr, singer JoJo and The Four winner Evie McKinney were amongst the first celebs to congratulate their friend on her big new role.
