Michelle Keegan has hit back after critics accused her Our Girl character Georgie Lane of being too glamorous.
Michelle, 30, is back on our screens as the army medic when the BBC drama returns on Tuesday – and she has defended her character’s appearance.
Speaking out, former Coronation Street star Michelle has branded the viewpoint that females in the army shouldn’t wear makeup as “sexist”.

In an interview with Metro, Michelle said: “Everyone was saying, ‘Oh she’s wearing makeup and she’s in the Army…it’s such a sexist thing to point out.
“It just makes me mad how people have perceptions of how people should look when they are in the Army.”
Michelle also reflected on numerous tweets she previously received about her eyebrows – and the fact Georgie’s were still intact during a particularly dramatic moment in the last series.
In nail-biting scenes, Georgie found herself trapped after a building collapsed on her and some viewers felt her eyebrows should have looked more dishevelled.
But she added to the newspaper: “They are tattooed! I can’t dust them off.”
Michelle took over the Our Girl lead from EastEnders actress Lacey Turner, who had played Combat Medical Technician Molly Dawes, in 2016.
The new series will follow Michelle’s character Georgie – now a Corporal – on a humanitarian mission to Nepal.
However, fans have expressed their disappointment that Georgie’s ex-fiance Elvis Harte, played by Luke Pasqualino, will not be appearing.
The character was killed off in a shock storyline at the end of the last series.
Tweeting at the time, one devastated fan wrote: “Why have they killed Elvis off? Sobbing my little heart out.”
