Star of Gardeners’ World Monty Don and his wife Sarah previously opened up about her health issues in their book, The Jewel Garden.
Monty and Sarah tied the knot in 1983 and share two sons and a daughter. Over the years, Monty has been open about his health problems, including his childhood cancer battle.
However, Sarah has had her fair share of health problems over the years that have impacted their marriage.

After giving birth to their daughter, Sarah revealed in The Jewel Garden that she was “ill for months, despite having had a supposedly film-star birth at an enormously expensive private London hospital”.
“I had a slipped disc, a result of the bodged delivery, and was so anaemic that I needed a blood transfusion,” Sarah continued.
She explained that her injuries “were not acknowledged” and that when she “tried to leave the hospital”, she had to “walk down three flights of stairs because the lift had broken”.
Sarah was “unable to walk or stand properly for over a year”.
Sarah’s illness left her bedridden
While trying to raise children, Sarah admitted that her being left bedridden also impacted her marriage to Monty.
“When it came down to it, Montagu was a loony and I was ill all the time,” she said.
Sarah revealed that the “lowest point” for her was when they were trying to sell their house.
She explained: “I was hidden away on my sickbed while potential buyers traipsed round the house.”
At the time, Monty wrote a book about the garden of the house titled The Prickotty Bush. Sarah herself admitted that she found it “astonishing” that he left her bedridden weeks out of it.
“I can only assume that he was so obsessed with making the garden that I was, during that time, peripheral,” she said.
