Gethin Jones voiced his concerns during Morning Live today after Nikita Kuzmin was left “shaking” as he opened up about his diabetes.
The Strictly favourite, 27, has been open about living with diabetes. Nikita – who hails from Ukraine – was 13 when he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. It’s a chronic disease and, as a result, it needs to be monitored every day.
This week, Nikita appeared on BBC’s Morning Live to chat about his new solo tour. However, Nikita started “shaking” causing Gethin, 47, – who suffered a nasty accident last week – to step in and help the dancer.

Morning Live host Gethin Jones’ concerns for Nikita Kuzmin
This week, Nikita appeared on Morning Live to chat about heading out on the road for his new solo tour, Midnight Dancer.
The conversation soon turned to the topic of diabetes and how it has impacted his life.
That’s why I am shaking.
“Recently, I’ve been trying to be really, really honest about diabetes,” Nikita told host Gethin – who shared his worries about his friendship with Morning Live co-host Helen Skelton last week.
He went on: “And actually, if I am being honest right now my sugar is actually going quite low, and that’s why I am shaking.”

Nikita then lifted up his hands to show them shaking. Concerned, Gethin then stepped in.
The host asked Nikita: “Are you good? You don’t need to do anything?”
Smiling, Nikita replied: “No, no I’m still alive so that’s great. You just have to make the best of it!”

‘The worry on Gethin’s face!’
Later on, Nikita shared a clip of the Morning Live moment to his Instagram feed and captioned it: “I’m still alive xx lol just a bit of diabetes reality check on live TV always gotta do the best with what you can do.”
His followers soon rushed to the comments section to applaud Nikita for being open.
“Absolutely adore you Nikita, so inspirational without even realising it,” said one person.
Another fan then pointed out Gethin’s reaction: “The worry on Gethin’s face! I’d love you to show how you manage it during a show. Tb you have enough to balance right now I know! I wish it had been more transparent on CBB. I love that you are talking more about the reality of it to help others.”
A third also wrote: “Hope Nikita is okay.”

Nikita on his diabetes
In April 2023, Nikita revealed how his diabetes condition has a “big impact on his job”.
Speaking on BBC News, Nikita said: “It does have a lot of impact on my job during rehearsals. I am monitoring it all the day. Thanks to my monitor and my Apple watch, I am seeing how my sugar levels go up and down. I do need to eat snacks, and manage it 100 percent of the time. But I’m very lucky that the Strictly crew always support me.”
Meanwhile, in 2022, he told followers on Instagram that he was “proud to be diabetic” and to wear a sensor despite having “good and bad days”.
He said: “Shared a bit of my personal story this morning and hope to send a little message to maybe that one person who needs a bit of positivity in a new found condition. Your life will be fine! Everything is okay. You can manage everything!”
