There are big changes afoot in tonight’s Christmas special of Mrs Brown’s Boys – after actor Rory Cowan quit the series, his replacement will be revealed.
But while the hit comedy might expect 10 million of us to wait with baited breath – and bloated bellies – to see who is taking over the role of Agnes’s hairdresser son, Rory will not be tuning in.
He told the Irish Telegraph: “It’s not my business any more who they get. I have no interest.”
This seems to us at least to be a pretty sad attitude, about a show that was such a huge part of his life for 26 years.
The trailer for the festive show gives fans a sneaky peak of the new actor replacing Rory.
Show creator Brendan O’Carroll has seemingly come up with a genus way to explain the change in son Rory (confusingly) – he’s had an entire face transplant!
As the new Rory arrives home, he can be seen with his whole face bandaged up – and he remains that way for the majority of the programme.

Viewers will have to tune in on Christmas Day at 10pm to find out the real identity of the actor who has replaced Rory.
Rory’s family finally take off his bandages – and it appears everyone is delighted with the results of the ‘surgery’… everyone that is, apart from Agnes.
The family matriarch looks shocked as she takes in her son’s new appearance.
Speaking of the Christmas Day twist, Brendan told RTÉ Radio: “The reveal is very, very good. And what I love about this episode is that everybody goes, ‘There’s no change’.
“Except Agnes, who goes, ‘It’s not Rory!'”
Rory Cowan departed the show after claiming he’s not been happy working there for the last two years. He told the Irish Mirror: “I got tired of it.

“There was no row with Brendan, there was no dispute over money or anything, in fact quite the opposite, I got so well paid that it enabled me to be able to leave, I didn’t need to stay.”
At least it sounds like Rory and Brendan’s friendship has survived – even if the former’s interest in the show hasn’t.
