Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll has signed up for a new BBC One programme called For Facts Sake – and it won’t be a sitcom.
The 62-year-old star will turn his hand to being a quiz host, with the show’s title being a twist on his Irish mammy character’s “feckin’” catchphrase.
Set to “celebrate ordinary people and their extraordinary facts”, For Facts Sake will see two teams competing against each other – captained by a rotating cast of Mrs Brown’s Boys’ regulars.
The rest of the panel will be made up of members of the audience.

Brendan joked: “I’m really excited to be doing a show where I don’t have to wear a bra!
“When we did the pilot it was great fun. If we can capture that on the screen we are all in for a good time.”
This is not the first time Brendan has presented a quiz show.
He was the host for Hot Milk and Pepper for Irish TV channel RTE One for two series between 1996 and 1998.
Brendan has claimed the name of that show referred to former PM Margaret Thatcher’s request when her served her drinks in 1984.
BBC director of content Charlotte Moore commented: “I can’t wait for Brendan O’Carroll to bring his own inimitable warmth and wit to a brand new comedy panel show for BBC One.”
The series will air later in 2018.
Since debuting on BBC One in 2011, Mrs Brown’s Boys has gone on to become one of the most popular sitcoms on TV.
