Nick Knowles’ participation in Strictly Come Dancing is hanging in the balance as BBC bosses prioritise his health following a recent injury, reports claim.
The DIY SOS host, 62, faced a setback after injuring his arm. This injury – which he did changing a car tyre – has prompted concerns over his ability to continue in the dance contest.

Speaking to The Sun, a close source reportedly shared some details regarding Nick‘s future on Strictly.
“Nick is desperate to dance but the BBC are putting his health above everything,” the source revealed.
The presenter has apparently been under the care of doctors and physiotherapists.
“He spent all of today with doctors and physios and he said he’ll do anything he can to dance again,” the source continued. “But ultimately it all comes down to training tomorrow. He will rehearse with Luba and then he will be accessed again by the show doctor.
“If the doctor thinks Nick is at risk of hurting himself then his Strictly dream will be over. Nick is being really positive as he thinks he will be fine but his welfare and health has to come first.”
ED! has contacted reps for Nick and Strictly for comment.
Nick took to Instagram yesterday (Tuesday, September 24) to update followers on his condition.
“Today I have seen Drs and Physios who have been wonderful. I’ve had scans (I’ll spare you the grim details) and although it’s feeling a bit better today, the issue is, we don’t know if I can actually use my arm to dance,” he wrote.
“So tomorrow, I’m going to rehearsals with @lubamushtuk and the physio to see just what my arm can do. Then the medics will make a call on if they think I can continue dancing,” Nick continued.
“I am still really hopeful that I’ll be able to dance this weekend. So fingers crossed…”
The upcoming rehearsal will be crucial in determining his capability to perform their next routine.

The injury came after Nick hurt his arm while changing a tire. This happened just one day after delivering his first live performance with partner Luba Mushtuk on the Strictly stage.
Following an emergency MRI, the extent of his injury is still being assessed. Therefore, his participation in the upcoming live show is still uncertain.
Despite the uncertainty, Luba is optimistic about adapting their routine to accommodate Nick’s injury.
While speaking on the Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two on Monday, she outlined plans to focus on what Nick can do.
“We still have a perfect position on his right arm, and we’ve got to do perfect footwork,” she explained. “We might even do a lift on (his right) arm. So I think I’ll work around it. I’ll make it work.”
Earlier today (September 25), Nick shared an update on his Instagram page.
Filming himself on his way to rehearsals with his arm in a sling, he spoke directly to his audience.
“Good morning, everyone. It’s been an interesting few days,” Nick began.
“I’ve got loads of people trying to make everything work for me. But today I’m going to try to dance and see what my capabilities are,” he continued.
“Luba is trying to prepare a dance that will work for me. It’s a big day for me. I’m really, really hoping that we find out that I can dance on Saturday. I’d really like to stay part of the competition. So, keep your fingers crossed for me.”
