Piers Morgan calls John Barrowman a “D***” on Good Morning Britain

But he claims he was coaxed into it

We’d love to have Piers Morgan at our Christmas party – there’s never a dull moment when he’s around.

And the 52-year-old was at his mischievous/controversial best as he presented today’s Good Morning Britain.

Just a week after he called ‘dating guru’ Richard la Ruina a “d***” live on air, he’s done exactly the same thing to a different guest.

In the studio today was former Doctor Who star John Barrowman (remember him?), who was discussing the casting of the show’s first female Doctor, Jodie Whittaker.

Suddenly, Piers interrupted the conversation by telling the 50-year-old: “So, you are a D***.”

There was an awkward silence before John spluttered: “Yes… I’m playing Dick Whittington in Manchester this season!”

The Scottish-American actor then went on to explain that he’s in rehearsals with co-stars the Krankies.

Piers later told viewers that John had BET him he wouldn’t make the comment live on air (Barrowman clearly underestimated the GMB host!).

Jodie Whittaker, 35, will take over the Doctor Who role from Peter Capaldi in the sci-fi show’s Christmas special.

And Barrowman revealed that he’s thrilled a woman has been cast in the role.

He told Piers and Susanna Reid: “I think it’s great. There’s a lot of talk online about things, but there’s no law that says it has to be a man.

“I think we should give her a chance – it’s about time there was a woman in the TARDIS.”

But when the discussion turned to the prospect of casting a woman as James Bond, the gents weren’t quite so sure.

Piers declared: “Some things have to be sacred – I guess Bond has to be sacred.”

And Barrowman argued: “I would maybe tend to agree with you – I’m going to get tweeted, aren’t I!”

Welcome to Piers Morgan’s world, John…
