Politician reportedly headed to the jungle in last minute I’m a Celeb casting

They are set to jet out this weekend

Kezia Dugdale is said to be heading to the jungle to join the cast of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! after a last minute casting call.

The Scottish Sun reported that the former leader of the Scottish Labour Party is leaving for Australia this weekend, joining stars including boxer Amir Khan and Made In Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo.

Kezia stepped down as leader of the party in August, and is currently MSP for Lothian.

It’s a potentially controversial move by the politician – five years ago Conservative MP Nadine Dorries drew criticism for leaving her constituency to appear on the show.

A source told The Sun there would be concerns, saying: “This signing is bound to annoy a lot of taxpayers.

“Kezia is going to be unable to perform her day job and serve her constituents for several weeks while she’s in the show.”

But others see her appearance as a chance for the MSP to promote Labour’s views to a wide audience.

A source close to the politician told the publication: “What a fantastic opportunity for Kez to speak about politics and Labour values on one of the most popular and watched TV shows in the UK.”

The Sun claims that Kezia is prepared to donate her salary to charity for the time she spends competing on the show.

I’m a Celeb is set to start tomorrow night, with most of the contestants currently relaxing in luxury in Australia with hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly.

There had been fears Ant wouldn’t be able to make the show after he checked into rehab in June, but he’s flown to Australia and has celebrated his 42nd birthday while over there.

He posted several pictures to Instagram of his numerous cakes and also tweeted his thanks for birthday well wishes.
