Twitter is turning itself inside out more than ever today, after Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith revealed the winner of tonight’s final – some 12 hours before the episode airs.
Many GBBO viewers are pretty obsessive about the show, so this revelation came as a massive blow to them.
Of course there was plenty of anger – some directed at Prue, even more aimed at people who retweeted her error.
(More on those later…)
Prue has now posted a sincere apology, explaining that she is abroad and had got confused about the time.
She also told the Press Association: “I’m in Bhutan. The time difference is massive.
“I thought that they got it six hours ago.
“I’m in too much of a state to talk about it. I [bleeped] up.”
Oh dear, there’s no getting away from it being a monster disaster – within the context of a TV show spoiler – but we feel a little sorry for her.
Twitter can be a cruel terrain at the best of times… and viewers have not been shy about expressing their vitriol following the appearance of her original message…
