Pussycat Dolls’ Melody Thornton confirmed for Dancing On Ice

The new series starts early next year

| Updated:

The celebrity line-up for the new series of Dancing On Ice is growing by the minute – and now the seventh contestant has been revealed.

Pussycat Dolls singer Melody Thornton announced she’s joining the show during Thursday’s edition of Good Morning Britain.

The 34-year-old star has said she’s “so excited” to slip into her sequinned costumes and dazzle viewers with her moves.

Announcing the news on Good Morning Britain, she said: “Hi guys, it’s Melody Thornton from Pussycat Dolls. And I guess the cat’s out of the bag. I’m so excited. I’m going to be on the 2019 cast of Dancing On Ice.

“I can’t wait to see you and I can’t wait to do some skating for you! Love you.”

Despite her performance background, the brunette beauty will certainly have her work cut out if she wants to lift the famous trophy at the end of the competition as she joins the likes of former Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan.

She will also be joining TOWIE star Gemma Collins, Boyzone’s Brian McFadden, former EastEnders actor Richard Blackwood and Loose Women’s Saira Khan.

On Wednesday, it was announced cricketer Ryan Sidebottom would be getting his skates on to join the line-up.

He’s a former England international cricketer who retired in 2017 after taking more than 1,000 career wickets.

The 40-year-old said: “I’m immensely excited. It’s obviously something totally different, massively out of my comfort zone. I’m just going to enjoy the ride, I don’t take myself too seriously.

“I’m going to embrace it, enjoy it, and have a laugh and a giggle along the way.”

Earlier in the week, Brian and James were both announced they were joining the line-up.

Brian said: “I’m very excited. I’ve already been practising out the back garden on my rollerblades and my mum says I’m a one man Torvill and Dean.”

The 38-year-old also sent a video message to ITV’s Lorraine on Tuesday morning to share his exciting news.

Professional dancer James, 40, broke the news on BBC Radio Five Live Breakfast.

James said: “I can dance but I’m a lot older than I used to be. People are going to probably say I’ve got an unfair advantage but when I got on the ice I actually shocked myself how bad I was.”
