Ranvir Singh shares ‘awful’ health struggle: ‘I’ve been crying this morning’

Hay fever previously forced Ranvir off air…

| Updated:

Lorraine stand-in Ranvir Singh shared that her hay fever left her in tears earlier today (March 28), as she hosted Friday’s installment of the ITV show.

Ranvir has previously detailed her struggles with hay fever. However, during her crossover to Josie Gibson and Dermot O’Leary ahead of This Morning, she revealed that today was a particularly bad day.

Her health update comes after the presenter opened up about her “anxiety” surrounding her boyfriend Louis Church’s relationship with her son.

Ranvir Singh has a bad case of hay fever

Josie and Dermot revealed they had an expert coming up on This Morning to talk about hay fever, prompting Ranvir to share her struggles with allergies.

The 47-year-old presenter called it “awful” as she spent the morning dealing with its symptoms. Ranvir said: “You had me at hay fever, Josie. I’ve been crying this morning. It’s awful.”

Hay fever is triggered when the pollen season is at its peak, especially during spring.  It typically runs from late March to September in the UK.

The allergic reaction to pollen can cause bouts of sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, and itchy and watery eyes.

Although she appeared to have recovered from its symptoms before hopping on screen today, the allergy has interrupted her work in the past.

Allergic reaction on live TV

In 2022, Ranvir had a terrible experience with hay fever in the middle of a live show.

She had to be pulled off air on Good Morning Britain when her eyes started to water uncontrollably.

Turning to her co-hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley, Ranvir said: “I’m okay, thanks. Just streaming eyes.” Ranvir couldn’t proceed with the segment, so she was quickly replaced.

Ranvir later gave an update on her condition. She took to X to explain: “Anyone else got the worst, most painful stinging hay fever they’ve ever had? I can barely keep my eyes open. If there was a vaccine for this, I’d sign up asap.”

In a tweet that followed a few days later, she said: “Thanks for all the guidance on my streaming sore eyes this week. It was an allergic reaction to something more than tree pollen, as the skin around my eyes has gone paper thin and sore.”
