Richard Dreyfuss swears live on The One Show during ‘car crash’ interview

The presenters quickly apologised

The One Show descended into chaos yesterday when Hollywood actor Richard Dreyfuss swore live on air.

Dreyfuss, 71, was speaking to presenters Amol Rajan and Angela Scanlon about Stephen Spielbeg, who previously directed the actor in films including Close Encounters of the Third Kind, when all of a sudden he blurted out “bulls***”.

The actor said: “Steven Spielberg said later that had he been married with kids he would not have had the ending that we had and I say to that, ‘bulls***’.”

A shocked Angela initially replied, “Okie dokes,” before apologising to viewers.

“We’re not actually allowed to use that language at this time so we have got to apologise for that,” Rajan quietly added.

“Oh I’m terribly sorry,” an oblivious Dreyfuss said. “I’m more sorry than they are because I get to go home, they’re going to get fired.”

To make matters worse, he then began to read from the auto-cue at the same time as Rajan.

The One Show fans soon took to Twitter to comment on the “awkward” viewing.

“For fans of awkward telly swearing, Richard Dreyfuss just let loose a mighty “bulls***” on The One Show and the entire interview collapsed,” one wrote.

Others said the swear word wasn’t the only awkward thing about the interview.

“The One Show is all a bit slow motion car crash today thanks mainly to the 3 m.p.h. Richard Dreyfuss,” a second shared.

While another wrote: “Richard Dreyfuss is a legend but this interview on The One Show is a [expletive] car crash.”
