What a difference extensions make

Fans were shocked at the difference a hairstyle makes as Ruth Langsford showed off long, blonde tresses on Strictly Come Dancing’s movie night.

A few carefully placed pins, and a handful of extensions can make a world of difference as the This Morning presenter showed, trading in her customary bob for elegant waves.

The transformation was all part of the show, with Ruth getting glamorous to appear as a bond girl to perform a Rumba to Diamonds are Forever, with dance partner, Anton du Beke.

The performance was part of Strictly’s movie week, which brought with it a wide range of performances. There were quicksteps for Toy Story, Samba’s for Saturday Night Fever, and even an American Smooth for The Sound of Music.

But the dancing wasn’t the only showstopper, with many viewers instead being blown away by Ruth’s new look.

“Just catching up on #Strictly and @RuthieeL you look amazing with long hair,” one viewer shared on twitter.

Another claimed it made the presenter look younger: “@RuthieeL looks amazing but tonight OMG she was transformed. The long hair made her look 30! 💕 the dance & deserved more marks #strictly.”

Some claimed they had trouble recognising her: “Didn’t recognise Ruth at all with long hair. #Strictly,” someone tweeted.

Not everyone was on board with the transformation, with one viewer tweeting, “Why do they keep putting Ruth in wigs and wearing hair extensions!? Looks ridiculous 😬😭 #Strictly.”

But most people seemed to agree that the look worked for the tv star: “Ruth looks lovely with long hair!! #Strictly,” tweeted one person.

Another speculated it was love for Ruth that was making the hair and makeup team pull out all the stops: “The #Strictly hair people love @RuthieeL Second week running rocking it!”

The week three results show airs tonight at 7:15, including a group performance that pays tribute to some classic Disney films.
