Rylan Clark-Neal slams troll after being subjected to homophobic abuse

Wind your neck in!

| Updated:

Rylan Clark-Neal has been the victim of vile homophobic abuse today (Thursday 10 January), but soon put the hater in their place.

The This Morning favourite, 30, was walking along Great Portland Street minding his own business after a night out, when an unpleasant encounter threatened to ruin his day.

He told his 1.52million Twitter followers that someone had shouted aggressive anti-gay expletives at him, before running away…

Rylan typed: “To the [bleep] on Great Portland Street that just shouted ‘[Bleep] Off You [Bleep]’ at me. When I shouted you what at you and you run away…. you run like phoebe in friends…”

Alongside the tweet, posted at 3am, Rylan shared a gif of a now infamous moment in Friends when Rachel is embarrassed by pal Phoebe’s, ahem, unusual running style.

After he posted the hilarious put-down, Rylan’s Twitter followers rushed to defend him, with one writing: “Can’t believe this still goes on! We love you Rylan, ignore the haters!”

Another said: “Good on you for calling him out.”

Many more agreed, with a third typing: “Bitter and jealous of your success Rylan! I would much rather see you on my TV then haters like him #staytrue #beyou.”

At the time of writing, the post had received 264 retweets and 5,466 likes from his fanbase.

Rylan’s post comes in the same week that Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank hit back at homophobic comments over his character Billy’s passionate smooch with Paul.

On Monday (7 January), Billy Mayhew and Paul Foreman enjoyed a kiss after weeks of flirtations…

But one viewer complained on social media and insisted that the soap should have had a warning at the start of the episode.

They tweeted: “Our 10 yr old G’daughter asked why?? We hear WARNINGS about swearing but NOT 2 BLOKES SNOGGING.”

To which Daniel fired back: “Would you have the same opinion if it were a man & a woman kissing?

“How sad that a 10-year-old had to learn that relationships can come in many varieties from television.”

The actor was backed by many fans, and even co-stars Kate Ford and Nicola Thorp jumped to his defence.

The account has now been suspended.
