Well the term jobbing actor couldn’t be more apt for this talented lady!

The detective sergeant is played by Nina Toussaint-White who has had a very vast and varied acting career.

The 33-year-old Londoner made her telly debut back in 2007, after spending three years studying for her BA in acting at the prestigious Italia Conti drama school. And that first role? In good old Casualty of course (and what actor hasn’t turned up there at some point in their career!).

She then went on to have a bit-part in the Bill in 2008, before getting her big break with a role in EastEnders – and this is where eagle-eyed viewers might most remember her from.

Although it wasn’t a huge role, Nina played a nurse called Sydney Chambers, who comforted Bradley Branning after his split from Stacey Slater, played by Lacey Turner (more on her in a mo!).

Nina was only in Albert Square from February to October, 2009, but her connection to the show was reignited when she went on to star in a drama called Switch in 2012, alongside the actress who played her former EastEnders love rival – yep, Lacey Turner!

Most recently, Nina has been in Emmerdale, where she played Angie Bailey.

Doctor Angie was married to Jermaine Bailey, who rocked the Dale by having an affair with 17-year-old Belle Dingle.

And to further bulk out her CV, Nina has also over the years had parts in Doctor Who and Holby City, and trod the boards in various theatrical productions, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She was also nominated for Best Performance in a Musical in the 2016 UK Theatre Awards for her 2015 role in The Etienne Sisters at the Theatre Royal Stratford East.

Busy girl, eh?

However, her latest acting role in Bodyguard has seen her co-staring with Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes in the tense political thriller.

The programme has been a ratings winner for the Beeb, surpassing all viewing figure expectations, and becoming the most watched drama launch on any UK channel since 2006.

The first episode, which aired on August 26, had a staggering consolidated figure of 10.4 million viewers, which the channel’s Director of Content,  Charlotte Moore, said was ‘extraordinary’.

“I’m thrilled with the response to BBC One’s new Sunday night drama Bodyguard, the figures are extraordinary and all credit to the mastermind creator and writer Jed Mercurio who is surprising the audience at every turn,”she said shortly after the figures were revealed.

Well we’re certainly hooked – and not just to spot those serial soap stars!
