With Kat Slater making her big comeback to Walford tonight, fans have been wondering whether her husband Alfie Moon would follow…
And now it’s been confirmed that he WILL be returning to EastEnders, too.
In fact, 54-year-old Shane Richie – who plays lovable rogue Alfie – will start filming in a few weeks.
It’s been two years since Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie left Albert Square to start a new life in Ireland.

Fans haven’t seen them since they appeared in spin-off show Redwater. Dramatic scenes saw Kat seemingly drowned and Alfie being resuscitated after risky surgery to remove a deadly brain tumour.
Viewers were left speculating whether their characters had been killed off.
So they’ll no doubt be thrilled that they are both alive and kicking and that an on-screen reunion is just around the corner…
Although reports say the reunion will be brief. So what does this mean for Kat and Alfie’s relationship?
A source told The Sun: “With Kat’s comeback, the writers knew viewers would ask when Alfie would be back too, so they’ve managed to convince Shane to return.
“It won’t be long-term but he’ll play a role in a number of storylines in the coming months.”
