Love Island’s Sherif Lanre slams ITV bosses after being ‘banned’ from reunion show

He quit the villa in June

| Updated:

Sherif Lanre from Love Island 2019 has slammed ITV bosses for reportedly banning him from the upcoming Aftersun reunion.

Sherif left the villa in June after accidentally kicking Molly-Mae Hague in the crotch during a play fight before making “pretty foul” comments about the incident.

Sherif has now claimed he’s been snubbed from the reunion show and said ITV bosses have a “vendetta” against him.

He told The Sun: “They are saying that because my contract has ended I am not required to go. But I want to go so I don’t see how ‘not required’ means that I am banned.”

“I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye when I had to leave and I was looking forward to seeing the friends I made in the villa.”

“The reunion would have been my one chance to see some of them this summer. Several of them have said they would see me there. The situation is upsetting.”

When contacted for comment, ITV reps told ED: “Sherif left this series of Love Island by mutual agreement after breaking the rules and there are no plans for him to appear at this weekend’s Aftersun Reunion.”

According to The Sun, Sherif also said he thinks this “vendetta against me is coming from people higher up in the company” rather than the producers – in response to claims that show bosses tried to block a deal he was eyeing up with fashion company Boohoo.

A Love Island spokesperson told the publication: “All of the Islanders are treated fairly and in accordance with our duty of care.”

They earlier said: “Sherif left this series of Love Island by mutual agreement after breaking the rules and there are no plans for him to appear at this weekend’s Aftersun Reunion.”

At the time of his exit, Sherif said in a statement: “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.

“I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.

“I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.”

After leaving the villa last month, Molly-Mae insisted there is “no beef” between herself and Sherif.

She told The Sun: “There is no beef between me and Sherif. I haven’t got my phone back yet so I haven’t spoken to him yet. But I love the boy to pieces.”
