A bride-to-be was reduced to tears on Say Yes To The Dress after her own mum called her “fat”.
Jacinthe, who is a size six, is set to marry her fiancé Tom in less than five months at a restaurant in Hong Kong.
Appearing on the TLC show, Jacinthe said she had a budget of £1,200 for her wedding dress.
Jacinthe was under pressure to please her friends and her mum with her choice of outfit.
Speaking to presenter Gok Wan, Jacinthe revealed her mother hadn’t liked a dress she previously picked out, so she wanted to find something that will “please her”.
She told the fashion stylist: “I’ve actually bought a dress before.
“I’ve showed a picture to my mother, but she did not like it at all. So I really want to find something that will please her.”
The bride-to-be added: “I’m very close to my mum. She’s very brutal but I really want to find something that will please her.”
However, as she tries on one of the dresses, her mum’s previous criticism made her burst into tears.
Wearing a £1,299 gown from Lux and Love, Jacinthe said: “I feel like I’m going to cry, I feel really fat… My mum said.”
As she wiped away tears, Gok said: “You feel fat? There is more fat on a chip!”
After trying on another dress, this time a £899 Stella York number, Jacinthe said: “It’s just something my mum would like and not what I like.
“I’m very indecisive and always trying to please everybody.”
Her friends, Clarissa and James then offered Jacinthe some advice.
James said: “I really like it but I know the top bit isn’t the traditional route. I know your mum isn’t going to approve of that. I know she won’t.”
Jacinthe agrees, saying: “This is a beautiful dress but Mum will actually go mad at me. She’ll probably shout at me or not speak to me.”
Jacinthe finally finds her perfect dress, which is a £1,200 off-the-shoulder number by Enzoani.
She said: “I finally found my dress and feel so relieved. I can’t wait to get married to Tom – and it will also please my mum, too.”
However, Jacinthe later changed her mind by picking the more revealing dress she tried on first.

She said: “After 24 hours of saying yes to the dress I’ve changed my mind again to dress number one.
“I’ve decided to put myself first – not my mum, not my friends, just me.”
