Soap legend top of I’m A Celebrity bosses’ target list for this autumn’s show

This would guarantee a rumble in the jungle

With its slippery creatures, incessant hissing and threats around every corner, EastEnders is not unlike an Australian jungle.

So making the transition to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! should be pretty seamless for any of the cast.

And judging by the latest odds offered by bookies, we could be seeing one of Albert Square’s most famous faces on this year’s series of the ITV reality show.

Danny Dyer, who plays Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, is just 2/1 with Betfair to take part in everyone’s favourite bushtucker and backstabbing fest.

If the 40-year-old actor does don his shorts and sun hat for the series – set to begin in November – it’s fair to say he won’t be short of things to talk about.

At the start of this year, he was forced to take a break from EastEnders after suffering from exhaustion.

And then in July, it was reported that he’d moved out of the house he shares with his wife Joanne Mas and their three children, amid allegations that he’d embarked on a six-week affair with Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding back in 2012.

Mind you, if rumours are to be believed, Danny wouldn’t be the only controversial star on this year’s I’m A Celeb. Oh no.

The word on the street is that producers are lining up a truly stellar cast of colourful characters.

TOWIE star Gemma Collins has been tipped to sign up for the show, even though she appeared in the jungle three years ago and quit after just THREE DAYS.

Love Island’s Kem Cetinay and Laura Simpson – the girl who was with Wayne Rooney when he was arrested for drink-driving – are also touted by bookies as possibilities for the forthcoming series.

A spokesman for William Hill said of 10/1 shot Simpson: “[She] has appeared in papers and on breakfast television, and no doubt would interest the bookers on I’m A Celeb.

“Given her recent self-promotion, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her say yes.”

Sounds like those scary jungle animals aren’t going to know what hit them.
