Dilly Carter treated for cancer while filming BBC show
The BBC star shared with Lorraine the harrowing experience of filming for Sort Your Life Out while she was in poor health. She spoke about the “tough” battle against the disease and its impact on her.
I’m lucky that I saw the light at the end of the tunnel because a lot of people don’t.
Dilly was able to get through the difficult period by “compartmentalising” her thoughts. She said: “I would think, right okay, well this is this part of my life, I now just have to deal with this. And, this is another part of my life. But for now, all I need to do is just focus on getting better, getting through this moment and getting to the end. I knew I had a goal and I had a focus.”
The TV star then added: “I’m lucky that I am quite a positive person. I’m lucky that I saw the light at the end of the tunnel because a lot of people don’t.”
Dilly considers herself truly lucky to be “surrounded” by constant support as she continued to work despite her health struggles.
“I was filming and the episode which is about to come out now was when I was going through treatment,” she said. The professional organiser further revealed: “I was really poorly.”

‘Huge amount of survivor guilt’
Dilly is proud of herself for putting up a brave fight against the deadly disease. However, she admits to struggling with survivor’s guilt.
The TV star said: “It’s been an amazing journey, but a tough one, as anyone who is a cancer survivor realises. You have this huge amount of survivor’s guilt. You think you’re surrounded by people in a hospital, that are really poorly and that don’t make it.”
She continued: “So the fact that I am sat here today, on a sofa talking to you, doing what I love best, on a show that I love that is just life-changing for so many people, is just unbelievable.”
As for her personal life, Dilly has been married to her husband, Charley Carter, for more than a decade. The couple share a daughter named Neely-Reet.
Sort Your Life Out is on BBC One tonight (February 11) at 8pm.
