They’ve been together two and a half years and in recent months, Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have taken some major steps – moving in together and talking about having a baby.
But now the Loose Women star has backtracked on any possible marriage plans with her actor boyfriend, saying: “I don’t think it would add anything to my relationship.”

Speaking on Friday’s Loose Women, the former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! winner was discussing comments from singer Jennifer Lopez, who recently revealed her eight-year-old daughter doesn’t want to get married.
Panellist Gloria Hunniford insisted: “I believe in marriage,” and then said to Stacey, 29: “You might think I’m old fashioned!”
Stacey, who is mum to Zachary and Leighton from previous relationships, told her: “No! I think it’s each to their own! I totally appreciate that some people would.
“I don’t necessarily agree that it adds something to a relationship I don’t personally think it would add anything to my relationship.”
Gloria interrupted to say: “It might though! It might.”
The X Factor finalist stood her ground, saying: “But it wouldn’t. It’s a piece of paper. In my opinion. If you’re religious or have real ties to marriage and it does really mean something to you, I get that. And it takes you to another level spiritually or however you look at it.”
She added: “But for me and Joe, for example, I honestly wouldn’t see any difference for our love for each other, whether we had a marriage certificate or not.”
Gloria interrupted again to ask: “But would you like to get married to Joe?” And Stacey told her: “I’d love to have a ceremony where we celebrate our love. I don’t particularly have any… I don’t feel the need to have a marriage certificate. And that’s what marriage is to me.”
Gloria asked if she wouldn’t like to have “more solidarity, being a unit.” Stacey said she didn’t agree that would be the case, because: “You can get a divorce.”

Fans were divided by the segment, with many agreeing with Stacey. One commented: “If two people love each other, then they don’t need a piece of paper, to prove it.”
Another said: “Love Stacey she has her views and sticks to them no matter what the others say.” A third added: “My partner and I got together a week after my 15th birthday. We will be celebrating our 23rd anniversary this year with no desire to get married as we are very happy as we are.”
A few agreed with Gloria, saying: “How does she ‘know’ it won’t make a difference if she’s never been married?”
A second wrote: “I wish people would stop saying it’s “just a piece of paper”. It’s actually a very important lawful contract that gives married couples rights that extends beyond those of a cohabiting couple.” A third tweeted: “Many couples have said this yet when they do get married they say YES it did add something more🤔 #loosewomen.”
It’s an about-turn for Stacey – who moved in with the 36-year-old former EastEnders star back in October – who has previously said she wanted to get married, revealing: “Yes. When I went into the relationship, I was honest about the fact that I didn’t want to have a fling. We both want to get married eventually, and hopefully have more children, but it’s about timing.”
Fans got excited for a proposal when Joe returned from his I’m A Celeb Extra Camp presenting duties in December, but it didn’t happen.
