When asked what had gone wrong for him, he simply said: “I’m four decades older than most of the people there and I’m up against tough competition.
“Dennis Wise has 21 caps for England, Amir Khan is a world champion! Look at lovely Jennie McAlpine, she’s been Fiz in Coronation Street for 17 years!
“So don’t think I didn’t realise I was up against strong competition.”
Stanley added: “The best people will win this one but it was good fun.
“It was wonderfully organised and a wonderful environment out here in the rainforest in Australia.
“And these jungle games – okay, they stop short of death, degradation or torture – just! – but it was fun!”
Stanley said he’s lost 9kg of weight in the jungle and is now down to 12st 9lbs, quipping: “It’s wonderful!”
He also said he’s been in contact with Boris.
“I had a wonderful WhatsApp from Boris. It’s a newfangled thing, WhatsApp,” he laughed. “I’ve had a wonderful WhatsApp from him saying, ‘Good on you! We’ve been rooting for you! You’ve done fine!'”
We reckon he’s done MORE than just fine!

Stunned jungle viewers were left sobbing last night as early favourite Stanley went home.
Some even demanded a recount, refusing to believe it was Stanley’s time to go!
He managed 20 days in camp.
Speaking to Ant & Dec afterwards, Stanley said: “I’m gutted to be out, you have no idea – my gut is considerably smaller than it was!
“I had a wonderful time, what a privilege.”
It broke the cycle of women leaving, after fans pointed out the first four casualties of the public vote were ladies.
Even Ant said at the start of the show: “Every single day has been ladies first; four women have gone which has left us with a lot of men!”
Stanley told Ant & Dec he couldn’t wait to get back to his emails: “I want to know what’s been happening in the great outside world. Is my son still foreign secretary?! I’m sure he is! He’s doing a fantastic job but I want to look it up quickly!”
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
