All parents have a tendency to big their kids up, and it seems that Stanley Johnson is no different.
The author – and father of Foreign Secretary Boris – became the fifth contestant to leave I’m A Celebrity this week, and appeared on today’s Good Morning Britain prior to departing Australia.
And the charismatic 77-year-old decided it was a perfect opportunity to catch up with what’s been going on back home.
While doing so, he made an hilarious ‘tongue slip’ about Boris that left us wondering if he was suffering from heat stroke…
Revealing that he hadn’t spoken to his son on the phone since leaving the camp, Stanley asked: “Is he still PM? Sorry, is he still Foreign Secretary? I hope he is.”
Whoops! Still, we’ll forgive him as he was such good entertainment while he was in the jungle.
And it sounds like Stanley himself will miss being on the show. He told GMB hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid: “I was really disappointed not to win. I wanted to go in there.
“I didn’t go in there thinking: ‘Let’s get out early and have a nice weekend on the Gold Coast. Honestly, I gave it my best, but it didn’t work.”

Mind you, he definitely won’t miss the food that’s fed to contestants on the programme. Revealing that he lost nine kilograms during his stint, he moaned: “As fas as I’m concerned, beans and rice is absolutely fine – half the world would kill for a meal of beans and rice. But we had two weeks of it – brilliant.”
It was clear that GMB viewers loved Stanley’s brief chat with the show, as many took to Twitter to praise the veteran star.
One tweeted: “Stanley Johnson is a national treasure tbh – someone get him his own show.”
Another gushed: “Stanley Johnson on @thismorning is just hilarious.”

And a third fan added: “I’m so sad Stanley Johnson has left the jungle!”
However, when he later appeared on This Morning, the author appeared to be mortified over his Boris gaffe.
He told hosts Holly and Phil: “I made a bit of a blunder earlier, a slip of the tongue, and asked if Boris was still Prime Minister.
“I want to make clear to readers and listeners that it was a slip of the tongue, and of course I meant Foreign Secretary.”
Don’t worry, Stanley, we still love you.
