Jade, who passed away in March 2009 aged 27, was perhaps the biggest reality star in the UK in the 2000s. Her sad death due to cervical cancer meant Bobby, and his younger brother Freddie, were robbed of having their mother in their lives.
Speaking to reporters as his involvement in Strictly Come Dancing was confirmed, Bobby said: “I’m so excited to be part of the Strictly line-up. I can’t wait to start training like a professional dancer and adding a few moves to my locker.
“I’m looking forward to performing in front of everyone, it’s going to be so much fun!”

Who is Bobby Brazier’s dad?
Born on June 2 2003, Bobby’s dad is TV personality Jeff Brazier. Jeff and Jade were together for two years until they split, in 2004.
Despite their break up, Jeff has always spoken highly of his ex in public, and has paid regular tributes to Jade on social media over the years.
In 2018, Jeff made a touching tribute to Bobby and Freddie’s mum as he addressed how much he wishes she was alive to watch them grow up.
He said at the time: “Ultimately, you would just rather she be here, every day, every minute, to observe everything that is going right with them and everything that is going wrong.
“There are moments when I think ‘am I getting it wrong?’ I wish I had the other parent here so I could say ‘what do you think we should do?’
“I feel guilty about this and that. But also sad for her because she brought two beautiful boys into the world and the very least you deserve is to witness them growing up, enjoying their childhood and then flourishing into the wonderful men that they are going to be which is my privilege, hopefully, and should be hers.”
And earlier this year, on the 14th anniversary of Jade’s death, Jeff wrote on Instagram: “The boys losing the most loving and protective mother any child could have hoped for at such a young age will never not feel ridiculously cruel.
“The most charismatic, loyal, inquisitive, adaptable and switched on person I’ve known. Her strength lives on in her children.”

What has Bobby Brazier said about his mum Jade Goody?
Similarly, Bobby – who was only five when Jade died – has always been dignified and composed when mentioning his mum.
Aged just 17, he brought up Jade as he bagged his first magazine cover as a model. Bobby said at the time: “Like every boy, you want to think your mum would be proud of you.”
He continued, speaking to The Sun: “I hope she’s looking down on me and smiling, probably laughing, thinking, ‘Look at Bobby lying in a field in his designer gear’.”

Bobby also fondly wrote sweet words about Jade in 2022, as he poignantly marked the 13th anniversary of her death. He wrote: “There’s birth and there’s death but life is eternal. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed. She’s left her human form. She’s home. That’s the way it goes. God bless her, my nan and my brother.”
However, Bobby has previously noted he doesn’t really remember his mum.
Asked about what he recalls about Jade, he previously said: “Not a whole lot. Maybe memories of memories. I’m always being told about her and what she meant to people. I guess I know my mum through other people’s memories of my mum.”
Asked if he misses her, Bobby replied: “I don’t. Because I don’t feel like I was with her long enough to miss her.”

It was reported in 2021 that Bobby and his mum’s widower Jack had a night out together, some years after his dad Jeff reportedly banned them from being in contact.
More recently, Jack gushed to The Sun about Bobby signing up for Strictly. Jack said: “Seeing Bobby grow into such a nice young man has been a lovely thing to see. He is absolutely smashing it. Jade would be bursting with pride.”
