Strictly Come Dancing stars ‘banned from going out in Blackpool over safety concerns’

Bosses have also reportedly brought in extra security

| Updated:

The stars of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing have reportedly been banned from going out in Blackpool amid concerns for their safety.

The pro dancers and celebs, who will be performing at Blackpool’s famous Tower Ballroom this evening, will instead be treated to a private party at their hotel.

It is believed show bosses have also brought in extra security following a number of incidents from previous years.

In 2016, Gorka was making his way to a club with fellow dancers Aljaz Skorjanec and Neil Jones when he was attacked by a gang. He was punched in the face and ended up losing two teeth.

“There have been a couple of issues in the past, so bosses have decided to act and banned the stars from hitting the town after the show,” a source told The Sun.

“To soften the blow, they’ve agreed to throw a bash at the hotel where they are all staying. It’s safer and means they can be properly looked after at all times and enjoy the night without concerns.”

However, Kelvin Fletcher appeared to flout the reported ban as he filmed himself walking back to his hotel last night alone following rehearsals.

At one point, the actor even stopped to pose for a picture with a group of women who had spotted him and pulled their car over.

“What are you doing walking around on your own when you’re a celebrity?” one of the women asked.

He joked in response: “You’re my bodyguard! No one is going to mess with me.”

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Kelvin is expected to win this year’s Glitterball Trophy – according to the bookies. Odds Monkey reckon the former Emmerdale star is unbeatable.

Kelvin has been favourite to win the BBC dance show ever since his first performance, and nobody has led in the bookies chart from first to last in the history of the show. Kelvin is odds-on favourite at 4/7 – as he has been since his arrival on Strictly.

When it comes to who could be going home after Blackpool, bookmakers are pretty sure that Geordie comedian Chris Ramsey will be heading back to Tyneside.

ED has contacted Strictly for comment.
