Strictly Come Dancing stars Katya Jones and Adam Peaty have divided viewers following their departure this weekend.

The two spoke to host Rylan Clark on the Strictly spin-off on Monday night.

Adam said: “I am hurt, but I know that Katya’s hurting a little bit, which hurts me more.

“I didn’t know how much it meant to me until I got a bit emotional after my dance-off.”

The Olympic star went on to explain that he was also battling injuries.

“I can say this now, normally I’d keep this under wraps but my ankles were going, my calf was going,” Adam shared.

“I was trying to do as many runs as I can but the jive is one of those dances that requires 150%.”

Later on, Katya broke down in tears after watching their best bits.

Tearing up, she said: “I’ve just loved every single day. I’m sure everyone will be very grateful for those tight trousers…

“Just rising up to the challenge and inspiring everyone that you can do anything if you apply yourself. I’m still not ready to go!”

However, Strictly fans seemed divided over Adam and Katya’s appearance.

Strictly fans divided

On Twitter, one said: “Adam and Katya – are they REALLY more hard done by than all the others who’ve left? Or just worse losers? #ItTakesTwo.”

Another added: “I don’t think Adam has been right since the whole ‘he tried to kiss her’ saga #ItTakesTwo.”

A third wrote: “Get the feeling that Adam didn’t really enjoy his #Strictly experience #ItTakesTwo.”

A fourth tweeted: “His first dance was good, but didn’t do much after. Any impressive moments were distractions from his dancing (jirating his hips, Katya showing off her fancy lifts). When you think of John’s cha cha, Roses tango, AJs Charleston, Sara’s foxtrot, Tom’s Paso etc, he’s not up there.”

Another shared: “Katya needs to get over herself. The dance was poor.”

Meanwhile, others were gutted to see the pair go.

One fan added: “These two were robbed! None of the two couples who were in the dance off deserved to be there.”

A second complained: “They shouldn’t be there!!!!”

Katya’s ‘backstage meltdown’

It comes after reports claimed that Katya had a “furious backstage meltdown” after their Jive.

According to The Sun, the professional dancer appeared particularly angry over their low scores.

A TV insider said: “Katya was absolutely furious during filming not just because the dance hadn’t gone as well as they hoped but by the low marks they received.”

However, a BBC source has simply explained that “emotions were high” on the night.

The source told Entertainment Daily: “Emotions often run high on Strictly as no one wants to go home and Katya and Adam were sad that their Strictly journey might be coming to an end.

“It was clear on the results show that they were visibly upset to leave the competition but they are both in good spirits now.”

Meanwhile, the BBC has denied that Katya was “furious”.
