But fans of the show appeared split over the decision.

Some thought Strictly veteran Anton Du Beke and EastEnders actress Emma Barton should have won.

Karim and Amy were robbed.

One said: “Really happy for Kelvin and Oti, but I’m not going to lie – truly gutted for Anton and Emma #StrictlyFinal.”

Another wrote: “Even though they didn’t win – Emma and Anton are the ‘REAL WINNERS’.

A third simply put, “Oh Anton…” alongside a crying face emoji.

A number of others were gutted that CBBC star Karim didn’t get to lift the coveted Glitterball trophy.

Someone tweeted: “Karim and Amy were robbed.”

“Disappointed! Karim deserved it and if not Karim, at least Anton. But fair play, Kelvin was good too #StrictlyFinal,” said another.

“Karim is my champ and always will be. Complete legend. So talented and so humble,” one viewer wrote.

Others rushed to Twitter to defend Kelvin’s win.

“The best man won @kelvin_fletcher #StrictlyFinal,” asserted one.

“Well, at least the country got one vote right this week,” joked another.

“Ridiculously happy for @kelvin_fletcher and @OtiMabuse,” said another fan of Kelvin, adding: “Consistently incredible throughout and they pulled it completely out of the bag tonight with their Showdance. Well deserved winners.”

Elsewhere in the final, viewers were left fuming over technical issues with the show’s voting system.

After the finalists had each danced their judge’s pick, host Claudia Winkleman told those at home to get voting for their favourite performances so far.

But many reported having issues with the voting system, calling it “broken” and demanding that the BBC fix it ASAP. Claudia later revealed that the issues were down to the high volume of votes.
