Tom Fletcher broke down over his Strictly Come Dancing exit on It Takes Two last night (Monday 22 November), and fans were emotional.
Tom, 36, of McFly fame and his dance partner Amy Dowden were the latest couple to be eliminated from the hit BBC show. They were in the dance-off with Rhys Stephenson, but judges decided to save Rhys instead.

As Rylan introduced the couple on It Takes Two, Tom said: “Don’t be nice to me. I will cry, and when I start crying, I don’t stop. Don’t be nice.”
Tom Fletcher then went on to talk about his dance from Musicals Week, a couple’s choice performance to ‘On My Own’ from Les Misérables. He explained that he’d done that dance for his sister, who is a musical theatre actor.
“Leaving on a dance that meant something to me, I think that’s kind of perfect,” the singer said.
What did Tom Fletcher say about his Strictly journey?
Talking about his nerves before performing on Saturday, Tom said: “When you’re doing it for someone, you don’t want to let them down and obviously it’s Les Mis and everyone loves Les Mis, it’s an amazing song, so you know, the pressure is on when it’s like that. But you try to kind of, put that to one side and just be in the moment.”
Things started to get emotional when Rylan showed Tom and Amy their Strictly best bits.
“Oh no,” Tom moaned as the video started.
After being shown his best bits on Strictly, Tom Fletcher started to cry.
“Don’t be embarrassed, because this is what a show like this does – it takes over your life,” Rylan said as the star dried his eyes.
“I loved it so much,” Tom said about his time on the show. “I’m only crying because I’ve had the best time. And I’m so, so happy I did this show.”
Viewers were emotional watching Tom, as one person said: “I’ve only just stopped crying and here I go again.”
Another wrote: “Tom and Amy have me in tears again, this is so unfair.”
A third added: “That was absolutely heartbreaking watching @TomFletcher and @dowden_amy cry on #ItTakesTwo I was in floods of tears along with them!”
What else did Tom have to say?
Tom released a lengthy statement about his time on Strictly on Instagram. The McFly star posted a short clip of him and Amy in rehearsals. The caption read: “Well, today is a strange day. Instead of heading to the training room to learn a new dance with @amy_dowden, I’m sitting at home opening all the post I’ve been avoiding for 11 weeks.”
He went on to write: “What can I say…I am, of course absolutely gutted to have been voted off Strictly, but the competition is so high this year that I’m amazed and proud that I got as far as I did!”
Tom then went on to say how he’ll miss the excitement of live shows on Saturday and thanked Strictly for partnering him up with Amy. He said the thing he’ll miss most, however, is how Amy’s “absolutely ridiculous every day”.

“It was the wrong decision, both you and Rhys shouldn’t have been in that dance-off,” one fan said.
“Don’t play with my feelings like that, please,” another fan wrote.
“You shouldn’t have been the ones to go,” a third said.
