Strictly star Catherine Tyldesley reveals she’s been taking travel sickness tablets to perform Viennese Waltz

The Strictly stars will be performing live for the first time this weekend

Catherine Tyldesley has revealed training for the Viennese Waltz has been so tough she’s been forced to take travel sickness tablets.

The former Coronation Street actress and partner Johannes Radebe will be performing their first live dance this weekend.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast today, Catherine said she’s been “loving it” so far despite all the training – and sickness.

“Do you know what? I’m loving it and my partner Johannes is just phenomenal in every way. I’m extremely nervous and I’m doing the Viennese Waltz, which makes me feel very sick,” she said.

“I’m actually taking travel sickness tablets because of the spinning!”

Host Louise Minchin then reminded Catherine it was one of the hardest dances to do.

“Yeah, I’ve been told so I’m really glad you can’t get voted out on week one but I am just having the best time,” before adding that it’s “slightly terrifying” to be performing live for the first time.

Catherine, 36, played Eva Price on Corrie from 2011 and 2018 and is now starring in  Darren Litten’s Scarborough with Stephanie Cole, Claire Sweeney and Jason Manford.

Catherine appeared on the BBC sofa with co-star Claire, who competed in the very first Strictly series in 2004.

When Claire said Catherine is doing a lot more training than she did, Catherine laughed: “I’ve got to, I’ve got to. I’m like Mr Bean. I’ve got to put the hours in.”

But Claire insisted Catherine’s “really good” having seen a video of her dancing.

Catherine previously admitted she almost vomited on her partner because her training sessions have been so gruelling.

Sharing a video update following a rehearsal, Catherine wrote alongside it: “Bless you for putting up with my heaving and SHOCKING memory.

To camera, Catherine said: “Do we really want to talk about what happened? It’s all going to be OK… I wasn’t sick. I didn’t vomit on you yet. I retched.”

Johannes replied: “She did… it’s fine, it’s OK.”
