Strictly star confesses to major mistake

Not what you'd expect!

You can totally understand why Strictly Come Dancing’s celebrity contestants get their steps confused every so often.

After all, they have just a week to learn a routine, the dance floor is a whole new experience for most of them and nobody can become an expert in just a few weeks.

But you don’t expect the professional dancer to be the one making the error!

However, that’s just what happened to Oti Mabuse, who admitted on Strictly spinoff show It Takes Two that she FORGOT her OWN choreography while dancing with Jonnie Peacock on Saturday night.

She sheepishly laughed: “I forgot the choreography. Me. The person who made it! We started, we got into hold and I went, ‘Where are we? Why am I here? I don’t know why I’m here?’

“All I saw was Jonnie lifting me and going, ‘5 ,6, 7, Oti!’ I’m like, ‘What is going on?'”

Thankfully for Oti and Jonnie, it happened during their rehearsal, right before going on stage, rather than in front of the judges and millions of viewers.

“It was the worst rehearsal ever,” admitted Oti.

Jonnie added: “I think there was a bit of panic setting in!”

He said he also forgot some of the steps, going blank while waiting at the side of the stage for his and Oti’s cue to come on.

“I kept forgetting two little elements – it’s all in the first 30 seconds and when you reach that part, you both know it’s fine and you can have fun with it,” he said.

Oti and Jonnie performed the quickstep on Saturday night to Stevie Wonder’s Part-Time Lover – and scored their first nine of the series!

They were given a total of 24 out of 30 for the performance, much to their surprise!

Jonnie said: “We made a couple of small mistakes but it went really well. I love these dances, where I get to enjoy them and they put a smile on my face.”

Next up for the pair is the Cha Cha Cha to Olly Murs song Troublemaker, which they’ll perform to a nautical theme during Halloween Week.

For Jonnie, it’s certainly been a challenge so far!

“The thing is, this is the first dance my hips have to move. I haven’t really ever seen my hips move, so tune in on Saturday night – it could be very Halloween-esque!”

Oh, we will!
