Strictly star faces fresh accusations over “difficult” behaviour

More bust-ups reported backstage

Alexandra Burke found herself in the Strictly dance-off for the second week in a row at the weekend and has been forced to defend her reaction to the situation ever since.

Yesterday, The Sun’s showbiz columnist Dan Wootton reported that the singer had a “meltdown” over being in the bottom two against Davood Ghadami, who was sent home.

According to The Sun’s source, she was in floods of tears afterwards as she couldn’t understand why she was in danger of going home again despite getting high scores from the judges for her routines.

Now Dan has said another Strictly insider has provided further information about Alexandra’s “difficult” behaviour on Saturday night, saying she had a “big bust-up” with professional partner Gorka Marquez as they prepared for the dance-off.

According to the onlooker: “There was obvious tension between Alex and Gorka as soon as they got ready for the dance-off.

“As he gave her a few words of wisdom on how to improve for it, she straight away went in on him.

“She couldn’t stop bickering with him and saying things like, ‘I’m not having that’ and ordering him about. Gorka was taken aback with it all and was sighing and rolling his eyes.”

The singer has yet to respond to today’s report but yesterday she slammed Dan’s “sources” and accused him of reporting “fake news”.

After The Sun’s article said “Alexandra was sobbing and shaking in the green room after the dance-off”, the singer clarified on Twitter: “After the show on the weekend I actually WASN’T in the green room. I was in the physio room treating an injury and then went home. NO meltdown… just happy that we made it through another week.”

She then tweeted Dan personally to say the “lies” he was writing about her were upsetting.

But Dan hit back to say he trusted his sources and was reporting “what’s going down”.

He wrote: “Hi Alex, we worked closely together for many years so you should know that I’d NEVER write fake news.

“You can be difficult. Nothing wrong with that. So can I. But these stories are coming from people backstage and on Strictly unprompted to my team. Good luck on Saturday.”

The row is a distraction Alexandra certainly doesn’t need as she prepares for this weekend’s semi-final.

All the couples will have to learn two dances this week and the stakes are high to gain a place in the final.
