BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing made its official, triumphant return for 2019 last night (21.09.19) to great acclaim.
Among the many delights to get viewers’ hearts dancing were new judge Motsi Mabuse – who proved an absolute hit – and Kelvin Fletcher’s sizzling samba with Oti Mabuse that racked up 32 points.
But among the joy at Strictly being back on the box, not everybody watching at home was completely satisfied.
As has happened with other BBC favourites such as Poldark, Happy Valley and Jamaica Inn, some viewers believed Saturday’s night’s programme was hit by production problems.

“The sound is a bit dodgy on #Strictly #scd tonight,” claimed one fan on social media.
“Why is the sound so crap tonight? #strictly,” asked another.
A third demanded: “#Strictly sort out the sound!!!!”
And a fourth pondered: “What’s with the bad sound on strictly tonight???”

“The sound mix issues aren’t confined to the mics – the mix on the band is also strangely compressed and empty sounding. #scd #strictly,” theorised another tweeter.
And yet another person reckoned Motsi was suffering with her microphone the most. To their ears, it was a while before it was fixed.
“#Strictly two hours into the programme and they get Motsi’s sound right. Pathetic,” they commented.
#Strictly has taken no notice about the sound issues for us deafies who need to wear headphones!
Can’t hear or understand the new judge very well. The audience is screaming and hollerin’ like a panto show. My poor ears, suffering to hear music @bbcstrictly @bbcPoV— Gita Renik 🎶 (@OooAuto) September 21, 2019

Back in July, a new tech breakthrough from the BBC was touted as being a possible solution to sound problems in TV programmes.
