Strictly’s Brendan Cole addresses rumours he’s quitting on It Takes Two

He's still gutted about getting booted out last night

| Updated:

Brendan Cole had everyone gossiping and Twitter-ing last night, as he delivered an emotional speech after he and celeb dance partner Charlotte Hawkins were booted off the show.

The pro shimmy shaker got emotional as he detailed his experience on the 2017 series.

“Quite often you stand in this position and you go, ‘Hey it was our time to go’ and perhaps today it was our time to go,” he said.

“Not often you stand here with such sadness and go, ‘I’m going to miss this and I’m going to miss hanging out with this girl.’

“I’m going to miss dancing with her, I’ve had one of the best Strictly’s in 15 years and it’s hard for me to even say that and I feel really emotional.”

Many fans thought this was actually a farewell speech and were expecting Brendan to hang up his dancing shoes on Strictly.

There were reports today that Strictly bosses were concerned one of the show’s most high-profile pro stars would not return next year.

Brendan appeared alongside Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte this evening on It Takes Two to explain  why he delivered such powerful words.

“Our marks were pretty bad given it was a good dance,” he told host Zoe Ball.

“We were still at the bottom of the leader board with the lovely Simon Rimmer. It was really tough.

“You wanna stay in and we had a lovely dance this week. I felt we had two or three weeks left in us.

“When it comes short early it’s devastating. We’ve both been very emotional the last couple of days.”

So, he was just overcome with the feels… no confirmation he’s doing the Cha Cha Cha off the show for good. Phew!

Brendan went on to discuss his special bond with Charlotte.

He said: “I haven’t had too many relationships on this show that have been… fun.”

Touched, she added: “I’m gonna really miss him.

“We had such an amazing time, he was always there for me, defending me. He had my back no matter what the judges said.”
