Reports this morning suggested that there was a ‘new’ feud gather pace among the Strictly crew – between Debbie McGee and Alexandra Burke
They have both been consistently gaining high marks and the stories claimed their rivalry on the dance floor had led to them falling out backstage.
A source told The Sun the pair are “barely speaking” as they prepare to try and out-do one another at this weekend’s big show in Blackpool.
The show insider said: “There is real drama between Alexandra and Debbie. Obviously they’re both very strong dancers and everyone expects them to reach the final.
“But with every week that passes things become even more strained between them.
“Blackpool is normally a big celebration but it’s likely to be extremely uncomfortable around those two because of this feud.
“Neither of them is showing any sign of winding down on this.”
According to the source, former X Factor winner Alexandra is said to be annoyed by the way Debbie, 59, has shrouded her dance this week with Giovanni Pernice in secrecy.
She could also be put out that Debbie beat her to the first 40 point score of the series a fortnight ago when she impressed with her tango.
Alexandra had been a favourite to win the series before magician’s assistant Debbie emerged as the dark horse to gain the glitterball trophy.

The rivalry between the pair is said to be particularly hard on their professional partners as Giovanni and Alexandra’s teacher Gorka are best friends.
“But they’re both fearless and determined to win. There are going to be fireworks at the top of the tower at this rate,” the source said of the feud between Debbie and Alexandra.
Well, thank goodness for Twitter, as it’s allowed Debbie to address these reports head on and she has described them as codswallop.
It’s not the first time rumours have surfaced of Alexandra clashing with a co-star this series.
Her determination to win the glitterball trophy has also reportedly left her fuming with Gemma Atkinson. The soap actress is said to have hit it off with Gorka, with some saying love is in the air between the two.

The singer is reportedly not happy with this as she feels Gemma is distracting her partner from giving her his full attention and committing to their rehearsals – although Alex has denied it.
Meanwhile, Debbie is also said to be suffering with a back injury ahead of Saturday’s show. She desperately trying to ease her aching muscles so the pain doesn’t affect her performance in Blackpool.
