Most of us are half-asleep on a Sunday morning, but not chef Clodagh McKenna. The, er, high-energy chef appeared on Sunday Brunch today, with many viewers blasting her for being “too much”.
Many were also appalled by her attitude to health and safety, as she licked her fingers, played with her hair and waved her sleeves near open flames…
The 43-year-old TV cook was demonstrating a meal for presenter Simon Rimmer, but viewers were divided by her high-octane chat, with one tweeting: “I find Clodagh McKenna incredibly irritating on #SundayBrunch.”
A second wrote: “Christ that woman (@clodaghmckenna??) who cant stop saying her own name on #SundayBrunch! Never seen anyone so desperate to become a ‘celebrity’ by being *kooky* & *funny* & *natural* who loves the *craic*.” [sic]
Another said: “When I first saw her I just loved her. I still like her and her cooking but her need for attention is painful viewing now. Or is it Sunday Brunch encouraging?”

Health and safety conscious fans were also worried about her cleanliness while cooking, with one writing: “#sundaybrunch Clodagh is a health and safety nightmare with those sleeves and her arms going everywhere. Make chefs wear appropriate clothing!!”
Another said: “Clodagh on usual form. Playing with hair, licking fingers and serving up food with unwashed hands #SundayBrunch.”
A third commented: “I hope Clodagh Mckenna is gonna wash her hands before cooking after mauling her hair! #SundayBrunch.”
Some defended the Irish chef though, with one writing: “I love her.. reminds me of all my crazy Irish aunties lol #SundayBrunch.” Another said: “@clodaghmckenna looking lovely as ever on #SundayBrunch.” A third praised: “Always love her being on LOL :D.”
The show – also presented by Tim Lovejoy – featured interviews with Ruby Wax, Ashley Banjo, Joe McFadden and Emily Atack, as well as Matt Pritchard doing a segment on his “Dirty Vegan food”, and Sarah Kingsbury sharing tips on vegan wines.
