Ever since the second series of Doctor Foster ended with a devastating twist, its millions of fans have been hoping for another slice of Gemma Foster pie.
The BBC drama followed the doctor’s devastating discovery that her husband Simon was cheating on her with a much younger woman – their friend’s daughter to make it worse.
The icing on the bitter cake? She was pregnant.

Viewers watched in horror (and glee) as Gemma set about seeking revenge on the man who broke her heart – ultimately becoming obsessed with it all and unwittingly harming her own son in the process.
Series two ended with Tom tuning away from his embittered parents, who were so intent on ruining each other, they’d forgotten to check he was okay.
It ended with Suranne Jones’ character, Gemma, staring down the lens of the camera saying: “I’m here. Tom, I’m your mum. I’m sorry and I’m here. I’ll always be here waiting. When you want to come back. Whenever you want to come back.”

But will we ever find out what happened to the teenager?
Appearing on This Morning on Friday (May 17), Suranne confirmed that there are no plans for a third series.
Joining Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to discuss her latest role as a gender non-conforming lesbian in Gentleman Jack, Suranne was naturally asked about her role as Gemma and if she’ll be back.
She said: “I love Gemma Foster. I loved the reaction. Part of me would be so frightened that people would be expecting a third series. But who knows, never say never.”
She also revealed she had recently caught up with her Doctor Foster co-star Jodie Comer at last week’s BAFTA TV Awards, at which Jodie won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Villanelle in Killing Eve.
TV fans know that Jodie played Gemma’s love rival, Kate, in Doctor Foster.
Suranne said: “I love Jodie. Her speech was authentic. She pushes boundaries, and she is just so brilliant. I loved Killing Eve.”
Former Corrie star Suranne is currently portraying another controversial character – Britain’s first modern lesbian Anne Lister.
To prepare for the role in Sally Wainwright’s period drama, Suranne reveals she “got in the gym”.
She added: “We played with gender with my costume, so I wear male underwear over a female corset. It’s thrilling, the whole thing.”
