The Darling Buds Of May was one of the most popular dramas on TV during the 1990s.
And now, reports claim, a new adaptation is on the cards, with the writer of The Durrells lined up to write a new series for ITV.

The show ran for three series between 1991 and 1993 and starred Sir David Jason as ‘Pop’ Larkin – whose catchphrase was ‘perfick!’ – alongside Pam Ferris as ‘Ma’ Larkin in a coming-of-age tale set in 1950s rural Kent.
It also introduced the nation to Catherine Zeta Jones, who soon became a household name.
At its height, the show attracted over a whopping 18million viewers per episode.
Based in HE Bates’s original novels, the new versions, says Broadcast magazine, will be adapted by Simon Nye, the man who adapted The Durrells for ITV.
It’s understood that ITV is already looking at a top-line cast to star in the new version.
The magazine also said that it was unclear whether any of the original cast members would appear.
