A tweet once written by Amir Khan has come back to haunt him now he is a contestant on this year’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!
Back in 2012 when he was doing a q&a with fans, he was asked: “Would you ever go on I’m A Celeb?”
The boxing champion replied: “No, it’s for has beens.”
Oops! Does that mean Amir, 30, now thinks his sporting career is over? And what would all his new friends in camp think if they knew what he really thought of them?
As he made his first appearance on the show last night, the Olympic silver medallist admitted he had never even seen it.
“I’m am excited, to be honest with you I have never watched the show,” he told a surprised Ant and Dec.
After he was paired up with The Saturday’s Vanessa White for the first challenge, it was left to her to warn him of the reality of their new situation.
She told him if they didn’t win tasks, they would have to survive on tiny rations of rice and beans. And it was likely they might have to spend some nights sleeping rough on the jungle floor.
“Vanessa did give me some insight into what it’s like in the jungle, it scared me a little bit,” he later admitted.

Before he was introduced to his camp mates, Amir revealed his reasons for going on the reality show.
He said: “The public probably think I’m quite big-headed. I’m quite excited to show the world what I am really about and who I really am.”
As well as being famous for his boxing talent becoming a world champion, more recently Amir has been hitting the headlines because of his strained relationship with this wife Faryal.
He has had a very public fall-out with her while she’s expecting his second child, often slating her to his 2.27m Twitter followers and saying their relationship was reconcilable.
However, shortly before leaving for Australia, he shared a tweet of the pair cuddling on the sofa, saying they had sorted out their differences.
He captioned the sweet snap with the message: “With my 4 month pregnant wife, after sorting out all the issues. Closing the year with a happy ending,” adding a praying hands emoji.
Amir admitted on I’m A Celeb that he had “made some mistakes” in the last 12 months, which have been “the hardest of his life”.
Viewers will be interested to see if he opens up more on this during his time in the jungle – but first they want to see him suffer by voting for him to do the next Bushtucker Trial!
