The Jump axed after so many celebrities suffer injuries

It's too risky

Celebrity skiing series The Jump has been given the boot after too many stars seriously hurt themselves whilst taking part in the daredevil show.

The Channel 4 series has seen 34 celebs sustain bad injuries over the four years it has been on air.

It comes as Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle is suing The Jump. She was left with life-altering injuries after taking part in 2016.

The show, which was filmed in Austria, was given a break last year but now it’s been confirmed that it will not return for 2019.

Channel 4 boss Ian Katz explained that there are “no plans” to bring the daring series back.

He told The Mirror: “You can never say never, but we’ve got no plans.”

Beth, 33, has had to deal with medical complications since her accident on the show three years ago.

She has had surgery on her neck and spinal cord after she crashed into a barrier during training. She broke two vertebrae in her neck and had to have part of her hip removed.

Beth said in a statement: “It’s been a long journey and my recovery is still ongoing. I’m not sure I’ll ever be 100% again.

“The effects of my accident still interrupt my daily life, and, aside from the severe physical injuries at the start, the hardest part of the recovery process has been the psychological element, dealing with and processing the whole accident and the aftermath of what happened.”

Other stars who acquired major injuries include Strictly Come Dancing’s Ola Jordan, Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington and actress Tina Hobley.

Ola was left on crutches for months and says her leg will “never be the same.”
