This Christmas’s EastEnders will “go down in history”

There's a dramatic Yuletide planned for Walford

With murder, divorce and huge reveals (think Max and Stacey’s affair and Mick finding out Dean is his brother) a-plenty, Walford is not exactly known for having the merriest of Christmases.

New boss John Yorke has promised that Xmas 2k18 will be up there with the most memorable festive periods on the square.

The storyline will centre around the Branning family, with Max’s revenge plot finally reaching it’s climax, and dramatic exits planned for Lauren and Abi.

Exciting huh?

Adding to the excitement is the news that EE have brought on board legendary writer, Simon Ashdown, who was behind the Max and Stacey reveal and the live episode in 2010.

Simon’s work will be on-screen from December 7th, which will be a special episode centred around the Brannings and seeing Max’s recent actions leading to huge consequences and prepping the build-up to Christmas.

John Yorke said: “I’m delighted to welcome one of EastEnders’ greatest writers back to the show.

“Simon has delivered some of EastEnders’ biggest moments and I hope people will agree that his Christmas episodes are right up there with his very best work.”

An Easties spokesperson added: “With Christmas rapidly approaching in Albert Square, things are set to explode in catastrophic style. Secrets and lies are exposed and families are torn apart forever.

“With the Branning’s at the heart of Christmas day, the special festive episodes will be written by Simon Ashdown.

“The Brannings will be at the heart of the drama and it is set to be a classic EastEnders Christmas that will go down in Walford history.”

Simon last wrote for EastEnders when he penned the Christmas 2013 episode which saw Ronnie kill Carl White and the Carters take over the Queen Vic.
