This Is England stars Vicky McClure and Johnny Harris reunite in upcoming TV thriller Without Sin – but where are the rest of the original cast members now?
Actor Andrew Ellis recently popped up in This Is Going to Hurt as expectant dad Carl.
He played Gadget in the iconic Channel 4 show.
The film and subsequent series launched the careers of several working-class actors on our TV screens today – including some of Britain’s finest.
We’re talking Stephen Graham, Vicky McClure, Jack O’Connell and Joseph Gilgun for starters.

This Is England cast now: Andrew Ellis played Gadget
Andrew Ellis portrayed Gary Flowers, aka Gadget, in the 2006 film This Is England – and it was his first ever role.
He went on to reprise the role in the subsequent three series – This Is England ’86 in 2010, This Is England ’88 in 2011 and This Is England ’90 in 2015.
Gadget joined the National Front with Combo and the others, but only seemed to join the group in an attempt to fit in.
Writers later made him more of a comic character, and he became heavily influenced by Madchester and The Stone Roses in the 2015 series.
Manchester-born actor Andrew Ellis is now 32 years of age, and appeared in episode two of the excellent drama series This Is Going to Hurt on BBC One.
He starred as Carl, who took his girlfriend to obstetrics and gynaecology because of a ‘surprise’ lodged in her vagina.
Before that, Andrew portrayed Lee McDermott in the 2019 TV series Clink.
He reunited with his This is England co-star Stephen Graham (who played Combo) in the short film Boiling Point.
Andrew has also starred as Fat Hood in the 2010 TV series Schizo Samurai Shitzu, Jonno in The Royal, and Jason Wells in Casualty.
This Is England cast now: Vicky McClure starred as Lol
Vicky McClure appeared in This Is England right from the very beginning as suedehead girl, Lol.
And just look at Vicky now – she’s one of the most recognisable actresses in the UK!
Vicky, 39, recently starred in ITV bomb disposal thriller Trigger Point as Lana Washington.
But you can’t mention Vicky McClure without talking about Line of Duty.
It was Vicky’s big break after This Is England, and the show that catapulted her to international fame.
Her next project is another ITV thriller, Without A Sin.
Vicky became engaged to producer and fellow actor Jonny Owen in 2017, and lives in her hometown of Nottingham.
Jonny actually played Taff in This Is England!
This Is England cast now: Stephen Graham played Combo
This Is England fans will know that Stephen Graham played the vile racist Combo.
Acclaimed actor Stephen Graham has since gone on to become one of the most sought-after actors on TV right now.
In 2021, he starred in Channel 4’s stunning Covid drama Help.
The same year, he appeared in Jimmy McGovern’s prison drama Time (with Sean Bean), gritty period maritime series The North Water, and comedy cop drama Code 404 on Sky.
He went on to appear in chef movie Boiling Point (all shot in one take), and even made an appearance in Marvel blockbuster Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
Stephen, 49, also starred in the final ever series of Peaky Blinders.
Oh, and we should mention that Vicky and Stephen reunited in series five of Line of Duty!
This Is England cast now: Joseph Gilgun was Woody
Joseph Gilgun, now 38, played the lovable Woody in This Is England.
He was originally a child star in Coronation Street, where he played tearaway Jamie Armstrong between 1994 and 1997.
He went on to star in E4 superhero-with-a-difference series Misfits and US supernatural adventure show Preacher.
But he has, in the past few years, been in Sky comedy show Brassic, alongside Michelle Keegan, which he created and also executive produces.
Series four of the show launched in 2022.

This Is England cast now: Thomas Turgoose starred as Shaun
This Is England featured an ensemble cast telling multiple stories, but it was arguably Thomas’ character Shaun who was the star of the show.
Since This Is England, 30-year-old Thomas’ last big job was in Sky sci-fi series, Intergalactic.
Thomas will reunite with This Is England creator Shane Meadows in upcoming BBC period crime drama, The Gallows Pole.
Away from the camera, Thomas became a dad for the first time at the tail end of 2021.
He and wife Charlotte welcomed a little boy.

This Is England cast now: Chanel Cresswell played Kelly
Chanel put in a stunning performance as Lol’s sister, Kelly.
In fact, she won a BAFTA TV Award in 2016 for Best Supporting Actress after This Is England ’90.
Now 32, Chanel has appeared in numerous TV series including BBC legal drama The Case, Sky comedy series Trollied, series two of crime drama The Bay, and ITV true-crime story Des.
When it comes to her personal life, Chanel is in a relationship with footballer Aden Flint.
This Is England cast now: Jack O’Connell portrayed Pukey
Jack, now 32, appeared in the first film of This Is England, as skinhead Pukey Nicholls.
Despite not appearing in the final two TV series, Jack has gone on to huge success.
After appearances in Waterloo Road and Holby City, Jack became a star thanks to his role in Channel 4 teen drama, Skins.
He reunited with Stephen Graham in 2021’s The North Water, and is about to appear in Peaky Blinders creator Steven’s Knight’s SAS: Rogue Heroes on the BBC.
That will appear later in 2022.
Jo Hartley played Cynth
Actress Jo played Shaun’s mum in This Is England.
The actress is known for playing June in Ricky Gervais’s Netflix comedy-drama, After Life.
In the hit series, June worked at the paper and was Lenny’s girlfriend.
Her next project is the film Swede Caroline, where she appears alongside the likes of Aisling Bea and Faye Ripley.
The 50-year-old also recently appeared in BBC comedy The Cleaner with Greg Davies.
Johnny Harris played Mick
Actor Johnny Harris played Mick in the three TV series of This Is England.
He played the abusive and all-around horrible father of Lol and Kelly.
Since appearing in the This Is England series, Johnny joined the cast of Sky drama Fortitude as Ronnie Morgan back in 2015.
He went on to play Bruno in the award-winning historical drama Medici.
In 2017, Johnny wrote and starred in the boxing drama film Jawbone as Jimmy McCabe.
BAFTA nominated him for his writing.
He’s recently starred as Charlie Rowley in The Salisbury Poisonings mini-series.
He’ll reunite with Vicky McClure in the upcoming ITV thriller Without Sin later this year.
