This Morning: Julia Hartley-Brewer under fire for Prince Harry comments

It comes after a royal expert urged Harry to give up his Netflix deal

| Updated:

This Morning guest Julia Hartley-Brewer has come under fire over her views on Prince Harry.

The radio host joined Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on the ITV show today (November 8), where they discussed the depiction of Princess Diana in Netflix series The Crown.

It comes after a royal expert demanded for Prince Harry to give up his £112million deal with the streaming service.

Royal biographer Angela Levin made the comment after Princess Diana’s friend, Jemima Khan, quit The Crown over its “disrespectful” script.

Angela told The Sun: “Harry has remained absolutely silent about Netflix.

“He should tear the deal up and make a stand for his mother. What’s more important? Money or defending his mum? It’s astonishing he can’t find his voice on this.”

This Morning: What did Julia Hartley-Brewer say?

The ITV programme discussed Angela’s comments during Monday’s show.

Holly started the discussion by saying that Harry would be “sued within an inch of his life” if he walked away from the contact.

And Julia didn’t hold back.

She said: “It must be horrible to have people talking every day about their late mother but I think it’s ridiculous that friends or family of the boys’ mother should be able to dictate how they should treat their mother.

“It’s outrageous, Netflix should have artistic freedom.”

Speaking about the deal, Julia added: “He blatantly used his royal title and connections to get it and he wouldn’t have it otherwise on any other basis, so it’s all be very tacky.

He’s using his royal connections to make a load of money

“Let’s face it, he’s quite happy to carry on exploiting his royal name and indeed his mother, doing interviews talking about his more important cherished childhood memories.

“He should drop the contract because he was tacky. He’s using his royal privilege to make a load of money – not because he’s talented at documentary making.”

Defending the royal, Matthew Wright interrupted: “Give him a chance, he’s entitled to make a living.”

Meanwhile, others took issue with Angela’s comments about Harry.

One raged: “Oh god. Another desperate way to [bleep] off Harry. The Crown has been around ages. These royal ‘experts’ weren’t moaning in the early seasons when it was all positive on the Royals.

“Netflix is a huge entity. He has no say in anything! Sorry, but this is ridiculous.”

Another agreed: “Royal experts should [bleep] off and leave Prince Harry alone #ThisMorning.”
