The Chase’s quiz colossus Mark Labbett has hinted at retirement after struggling to see off two challengers on the ITV show.
‘The Beast’, 52, teased walking away from TV trivia tests after being spanked in yesterday’s episode by final round contestants Byrony and John.
Having aced their head-to-head rounds with Mark, the pair ensured he ran out of time to answer his allotted questions in the final stages by successfully chipping away at his chances with push back delays.

And The Beast was clearly off his game as he admitted to underestimating the duo as they built up twenty steps for the ultimate show clash.
Mark gulped: “Okay, I might have to warm up fourth and fifth gear. Well played.”
However, despite a strong start for Mark he soon hit a stumbling block and got question after question wrong.

Mark still had three questions to answer as the final few seconds ticked away, leaving his victorious ecstatic opponents £10,000 richer.
Host Bradley Walsh tried to cheer The Beast up, but Mark admitted he wasn’t in the best form – and may have to consider his future if he doesn’t pick up the pace he feels he has lost.
“Bad luck, by the way. I thought you played really well,” commiserated Bradley.
A frustrated Mark groaned: “I was just too slow.”
He continued: “I’m getting old. I’m getting worried… I’m serious!
“If I don’t start playing faster I’m going to have to retire because that was way too slow.”

A shocked Bradley urged viewers to take the opportunity to battle The Beast while they still can.
Speaking directly to the camera, he said: “You heard it here first – The Beast is getting worried.”
“He’s getting older. He may have to retire.
“Come and have a go… you might just have time left.”
The Chase airs on ITV, weekdays, from 5pm.
