BBC Breakfast viewers savaged an “embarrassing” and ‘childish’ segment focusing on homemade slime earlier today, with one TV watcher complaining: “May as well let Dick and Dom present the show and have done with it.”
Hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt interviewed YouTube star Talisa Tossell about the playground toy craze but viewers were left cringing as an awkward demonstration on how to make slime from scratch fell flat.
“This is like Blue Peter, isn’t it?” Charlie grimaced as he had a go at stirring the slime ingredients together in a bowl.

Naga smirked: “You’re very good, Charlie!”
But having quizzed Talisa about health and safety precautions and the role of social media in slime’s rise in popularity, the stilted conversation soon ran dry as the gooey mixture failed to gain the right consistency in front of the studio cameras.
“What’s the best thing you’ve done with slime?” asked Naga, clutching at conversational straws.

With Charlie still struggling with the slime mixing bowl, Naga playfully twisted the knife as Talisa tried to cover for the flop attempt.
Talisa congratulated Charlie: “I think this was a valiant effort for your first attempt, even though it was definitely me because I brought the wrong ingredients!”
However, Naga chuckled: “I think you’re being generous. A lesson there is don’t have Charlie help you make anything.”
And Charlie, who had pulled some uncomfortable-looking expressions while whisking, added: “I’m magnanimous to accept that I had a role to play in that going so badly.”
Viewers, however, also blamed Talisa for the segment awry – and were utterly brutal about the “irritating” young entrepreneur whose YouTube videos have been watched over 180 million times.

The @BBCBreakfast may as well let Dick and Dom present the show and have done with it. Bunch of idiots talking about slime. #bbcbreakfast – once again making sure I start the day in a bad mood.
